Elcomsoft Distributed Password Recovery offers an excellent solution to recover lost or forgotten password from a variety of common business documents including those of Microsoft Office. Usually recovering a password takes a long time but this tool has the capacity to use the power of more than one computer to recover.
It uses distributed processing to restore the lost password by installing the agents onto as many computers on the network as desired; each of these agents uses its force to try to recover the lost password.
It allows to: restore passwords of different documents by distributed processing; work in local and global networks; install and uninstall agents to remote computers; launch the agents and the server as system services; keep track of the actions.
EDPR restores passwords for Office documents encrypted with 40 bit keys (Office 97/2000 compatible) as well as more recent documents (Office XP/2003) encrypted with CSP. Office 97/2000 documents can be also decrypted by recovery of encryption keys instead of password, and that type of attack gives a guaranteed result regardless of password length and complexity.
